Okanagan Junior Bombers - the story behind the name:
In the summer of 2003, devastating forest fires destroyed over 250 homes and thousands of hectares of forest land in Kelowna. It was a significant historical event that challenged our city, but it was also a time when our city was at its best. Family, friends, neighbours, strangers, volunteers and emergency personnel came together to support those affected and to help fight the fires ravaging our area. Among those battling the blaze were the majestic water bombers, who’s regular passes over the city became a symbol of hope as they worked tirelessly to bring an end to the devastation. It was an unforgettable display of solidarity and resilience, and we felt that if our team was to represent this city, it was only fitting that we pay homage the event that defined us as a community. From this came our new identity, and it is one that we will wear with pride.
